Steering Committee (Steering to success)

Being on a project steering committee can be one of the most worthwhile or wasteful times of your month. For most people, currently, it is more likely to be wasteful than worthwhile.

The role of steering committee members is not well understood, often being seen as a 'control' function over the project. This is true, but is only one of five principal roles of steering committee members.

Your primary accountability is to 'steer' the project successfully into the organization.

The organization is set up not to change while your project is set up to introduce change. Your primary role is to manage this conflict in goals.

Our Business Project Governance Program materials are designed to give you overall control and confidence to make your contribution.

  1. To focus on the right issues in the right way,
  2. To make decisions quickly and easily based on a good understanding of your role and your project.
  3. To achieve more in less time and with less stress.
  4. To avoid the common mistakes.

People will look to you to lead and champion your project. You need to 'own' it and be proud of its (and your) success.

Our Program gives you the expert knowledge and advice to make Project Governance one of your own core competencies so you will not be blindsided by any aspects of your projects.

Only 5% of projects deliver on time, on budget and all business outcomes and benefits. This Programme will help your project be in that 5%.

You'll be able to work as one with your Project Team, jointly focused on delivering commonly understood desired and expected business outcomes and value.

Importantly, you'll generate a high level of personal satisfaction of doing an excellent job, and receiving peer and senior management recognition for delivering a truly successful project.
